Buttercream Rose {Wedding Cake}

Classic and Elegant... A smoothly iced butter cream cake with hand piped roses. The cake was a butter yellow color with bright white roses. The cake was kept simple by finishing the tiers with a simple bead border. It is displayed on a white milk glass cake stand.

This is the perfect example of less is more.

Rosettes and Pearls {Wedding Cake}

We created these beautiful buttercream cakes for a wedding at Wine and Roses in Lodi this past weekend. The cakes are decorated with buttercream rosettes with pearl centers, hand rolled fondant pearls, hand piped lace, and pearl trim. A couple of the cakes were embellished with open rose sugar flowers. We set up the cakes in a symetrical layout and used a mix of white and pink milk glass cake stands.


The centerpience of the display was this 4 tier buttercream cake which has mulitple textures such as a smooth finish, piped rosettes, piped lace, fondant pearls and a dusty pink open sugar rose. 

This is one of the 2 tier cakes that were on each side of the center cake. The rosettes are on the top tier this time and it better shows the hand rolled fondant pearls.

Just Peachy {Wedding Cake}

This sweet peach and white 2 tier round wedding cake was the center of yummy dessert table. (pics to come later of the full table) The bride like the quilted style cakes and the groom wanted something more angular and precise. So we created a cake that gave them best if both. The pleated linear look of the bottom tier satisfied the groom's style while complimenting the more feminine quilted tier. The cake was also embellished with some ruffled flowers. We took an artistic approach to the anemone flower by using a simple gold pearl center. The cake is displayed here using one of our jade cake stands.

White and Gold Vintage Elegance {Wedding Cake}

White, gold and elegant. This wedding cake was created for Nichole and Josh for their 2011 wedding at Catta Verdera. The cake has a touch of vintage victorian elegance with some fun whimsical pops of color and non-tradional cake construction. We used a lace stencil, pinched the edge of some tiers and added some molded elements to give the vintage feel. Their florist Blooms by Martha Andrews added the perfect floral accents that made the colors pop and add just the right amount of whimsy. We constructed the cake with a variety of shapes and tier heights to give it a unique look and feel. I love the overall finished look of the cake, the white and gold is classic, the different decorating techniques we applied and the fun floral pops of colors and textures.

Carvalho Family Winery: A Return to the Classics - Bridal Faire

Raspberry, Apple Green and Damask {wedding cake}

Kristina and Justin's were married in April and their cake had it all! It was 5 tiers tall, but was made up of 10 separate cakes. It had a stenciled damask pattern in classic black and white mixed with quilted textured tiers. It had bursts of color with the use of an apple green covered tier and borders and raspberry pearl accents and bow embellishments. And to top it off a very elegant black acrylic initial topper.

 I love this close up of the cake. It shows the damask pattern was also done on the cake board, the raspberry colored pearls accenting the quilting and the clean look of the stenciled damask.

 Another detail of the wedding I loved and just had to share was Kristina's bouquet. Not only did she use some of my favorite flowers such as dahlias, kermit mums, and spider mums; the bouquet was embellished with a beautiful crown brooch.

 I'm a big fan of kissing balls and these created by Visual Impact Design are fabulous with the addition of the hanging jewels. The kissing balls were also used as centerpieces on the tables and other places through the reception.

the seating chart made it easy for guests to find the name and table. A fun touch was to replace table numbers with movie titles, such as Top Gun and Sixteen Candles.

Pink Chandelier Wedding Cake {Rustic Elegance}

I just adored everything about Sarah and Josh's wedding this summer. It took place on the family's ranch and the reception was held in the barn. The walls were draped from floor to ceiling, chandeliers provided the perfect lighting, and the cake was placed on a wine barrel dressed up with hanging jewels. So when it came to designing the perfect cake to fit their rustic, yet elegant, wedding the couple asked me to look to their invitation for inspiration. I was super excited to see that Stephanie with Stephanie J. Designs was the genius behind the beautiful invitation suite.

From paper to cake: I incorporated the pink chandeliers and hanging jewels and pearlized the cake to match the shimmer of the paper.
